Looking for just a little more?
Like the 3 day, we still get the opportunity to spend a night on the beach, but this tour we also stay two nights on an indigenous built midden, this allows an extra day to paddle up one of our freshwater rivers in search of new ecosystems.
A few more miles each day to add more adventure
**Subject to change based on tides/weather**
Day 1: 10 miles
Paddle from the Everglades Gulf Coast Visitor center west through Chokoloskee Bay, and crossing several others to get to our shell mound campsite. We'll break for lunch halfway on an exposed oyster bed. We usually arrive to camp by 2 or 3 pm to set up.
Day 2: 8-12 miles.
This is our free day to do a fun paddle then returning to the same camp. Starting with a hearty cooked breakfast we will paddle across a wide shallow bay the up freshwater river in search of Alligators, Turtles, and Birds. we will have lunch on a sand bar along the river,
Day 3: 5-8 miles.
Start the morning with hot coffee and breakfast, then pack up camp to head to the Beach. We take a winding route through the mangrove "maze," that can be shorter with opportunities to enter some "tunnels" if the tides are right, or longer if folks have the energy and want more paddling. Normally lunch will be at our campsite on the more direct route to give more time to relax and explore the beach, otherwise the longer route will have us stopping on another island beach along the way.
Day 4: 6-8 miles.
Launch from our beach campsite after breakfast and pack and head to Indian key pass following the marked waterway to Chokoloskee bay then landing once again at the Visitor Center.
This tour is suitable for reasonably fit Intermediate paddlers ages 13-72. Keep in mind sea kayaking is a physical activity that may require paddling against tides or headwind. We try to take ample breaks but may be seated in the kayaks for up to 2.5 hours at time. Participants should be comfortable getting in and out of a Sea Kayak with enclosed cockpit at ground level with or without reasonable assistance.
Each trip is fully outfitted. We provide all meals starting with lunch on the first day and ending with lunch on the last day, accommodations can be made for those with food allergies or special dietary restrictions.
We also provide tents, kayaks, paddling and safety equipment, dry bags, and a professional guide.
